The Meaning of Gemstones

We have a couple of stones that we sell here. It is always great to know the history, hidden meanings and fun things about the gemstones you are wearing. So here are a couple of our favorites. Notice we didn't include Crystal Quartz. Thats because we have set aside a major lesson on everything you need to know about Crystal Quartz aka Rock Crystal.
Onyx- Onyx is a magical stone all over the world. Its power is further heighten by magic inspirations often found in the graves of Native American and Ancient Roman and Greeks. Onyx is used to repel negative energy and calm anxiety. It also has a positive influence on Capricorns. Onyx is found in Brazil, Madagascar, USA,Mexico and India.
Rose Quartz- Rose Quartz is a pink translucent stone. Rose Quartz is linked with Taurus and Libra star sign. Rose Quartz symbolizes trust and brotherly love and helps with affairs of the heart hence the pink color. This stone is normally found in Madagascar, Austria and brazil
Tiger’s Eye- Tigers eye gets it name because of its similarities of an eye. Tiger’s eye is said to lift depression and promote concentration. This stone is associated with Virgo. Tiger’s eye stones are normally found in South Africa, India, USA and Western Australia.
Amethyst- The word Amethyst is from the Greek word amethyein, meaning “not drunk” (we are not joking). The Greek wore amethyst to protect them from homesickness, drunkenness and evil thoughts. Amethyst is associated with the Pisces star sign. This stone is often found in Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, and Morroco.
Lapis Lazuli- Lapis is a very old stone, dating back as far as 5000 BC. This stone was often used in Ancient Egypt and put on the heart after death. The blue color representing the sky, would help guide the dead into the afterlife. Lapis Lazuli is found in Egypt, Afghanistan and Myanmar.
Hematite- In Ancient Egypt and Middle Ages Hematite was seen as a blood stone. The reason beginning is that is believed to stabilize the circulation of blood. This stone is assigned to Scorpio. Hematite symbolizes courage.
